Efficient Verge Collection Services for Residents – Guidelines and Schedule

Efficient Verge Collection Services for Residents – Guidelines and Schedule

To ensure a smooth and efficient process, residents are encouraged to adhere to specific guidelines and schedules provided by local authorities.

Scheduled Collection and Guidelines:

Residents are advised to place their verge waste no earlier than two days before the scheduled collection date. If waste has already been placed outside, it’s recommended to bring it back in until the collection period begins. This precautionary measure helps maintain the tidiness of neighbourhoods and prevents unsightly waste accumulation.

Verge waste is collected using machinery that could potentially damage lawns or artificial turf. To mitigate this risk, it’s essential to carefully consider the placement of waste items. Strategic positioning can minimize any potential harm to outdoor areas.

It’s important to note that vacant lots, business premises, and parks are not eligible for verge waste collection services. These services are specifically designed for residential properties.

General Waste Verge Collection:

An annual bulk general waste verge collection service is scheduled to efficiently manage waste disposal. Each residential property is allowed a maximum of two cubic metres of general waste. To streamline the recycling process, residents are advised to separate items into five distinct piles, with a combined volume not exceeding two cubic metres:

  1. Fridges and white goods
  2. Other metals
  3. Mattresses
  4. General waste
  5. E-waste

Green Waste Verge Collection:

Two green waste verge collections are organized per financial year, prior to summer and winter, aligning with fire and storm seasons. Residents can dispose of up to three cubic meters of green waste during each collection. Acceptable green waste includes tree and shrub prunings, provided they are no longer than 1.5 metres and have a diameter of 350 mm. It’s essential to avoid placing green waste on tarps, in boxes, or bags, and refrain from tying prunings with string. Artificial turf is not accepted during the green waste collection.

Non-Conforming Verge Collection:

Verge waste that doesn’t adhere to the specified regulations will not be collected. Residents must follow the guidelines outlined in the Verge Waste Collection Flyer received in their mailbox. If collection is unsuccessful, notifications may be left explaining the reasons. In such cases, residents or property owners are responsible for making alternative waste disposal arrangements. Tip passes can be used to drop items at the Millar Road Landfill Facility in Baldivis, and metal objects and other items can be dropped off at the Millar Road Recycling Facility free of charge.

Efficient verge collection services contribute to a cleaner and more attractive neighbourhood. By adhering to guidelines, adhering to collection schedules, and properly separating waste items, residents can ensure a smooth and hassle-free waste disposal process. Properly managed verge waste not only maintains the aesthetic appeal of the community but also plays a vital role in environmental preservation.
